Winning at customer service happens when we consistently provide an outstanding experience for our customers. It is being passionate about offering great service. Each company either has it or they don't. There is no middle ground. Customers either walk away feeling that the service was excellent, or they walk away with the mindset to never return. The decision ultimately is decided by the service that was provided. The smart teams understand this and believe that the key to ultimate success lies in making the customer their top priority.

I've listed six key ideas that will assist in developing a perfect environment for excellent customer service to thrive:

1. The perfect environment must focus on a solid purpose

In order to create an excellent environment where great customer service can thrive, we must have a clear mission statement for each team member. What is the purpose of our existence? This is important because of the vision that it will offer. The vision also gives our organization a common goal where success becomes more easily obtainable.

2. The perfect environment offers the gift of empathy

The perfect environment for providing excellent service must include having a certain amount of empathy with our customers. Understanding how customers feel will result in better overall service. When we are able to put ourselves in their shoes, we will begin to treat them in a way that we would like to be treated. This alone will improve our service and offer a positive experience for each customer.

3. The perfect environment projects efficiency

In order to create an environment where five-star service can flourish, it is important to develop efficiency during service transactions. By this I mean that the process of serving others functions like clockwork. When customers sense that we are efficient at serving them, they will perceive us as professionals in our field.

4. The perfect environment sees serving as enjoyable

A fourth feature for great service to florish is when we have a group of individuals who genuinely take pleasure in serving their customers. The perfect environment will always include a team who enjoy the act of assisting others. Customers cannot help but give our service higher ratings when they have felt that the person serving them actually enjoyed meeting their needs.

5. The perfect environment maintains consistency

Having the perfect environment for five-star service to grow will include being consistent day in and day out. The reputation of being an excellent organization with great service will naturally take place when we show consistency. Customers will not only return, but they will tell others about our exceptional service simply as a result of trusting us. By being consistent with our service, our customers will soon become our best advertisers because they trust that we will not waver in our service.

6. The perfect environment becomes a team involvement

The organizations that tend to get it right time and again have created a team that works together. Everyone is on the same page and works together to develop the perfect environment for their customers. The only way that five-star service can be consistent is by having everyone support the mission and build each other up to perform at their best.

Implement these six ideals into your training and your will soon discover the environment in your organization improving for the better. Before long your customers will not only want to return, but they will become your best advertisers simply because of the excellent service that was provided!
